Beauport-Limoilou
Sylvie Boucher was first elected to the House of Commons in January 2006. She was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister in February 2006 and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for la Francophonie and Official Languages in April 2006.
Ms. Boucher was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for the Status of Women in October 2007 while continuing in her role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Since she was elected, Ms. Boucher has served on a number of House of Commons Standing Committees, including those on Official Languages, Canadian Heritage and Status of Women.
Ms. Boucher began her career in the private sector in sales and marketing. She then turned to politics and held various positions in the Quebec National Assembly, notably a position in the Office of the Minister of Public Safety and in the Office of the Minister of Tourism.
Ms. Boucher has studied in a wide variety of fields, including gerontology, literature, office system technology and information technology. She has two daughters and is active in many community groups.
