| Purpose: |
Nishnawbe Women in Leadership & Self Government is an extension of the work Equay-wuk initiated in their last initiative Nishnawbe Women in Leadership 2005. Focused on increasing female representation in First Nation governance structures and participation in self-government within Ontarios provincial remote north, this six month initiative will be accomplished in two parts (1) gathering women of 31 First Nation communities at a three day workshop covering topics of self-government, leadership, and organizational development and (2) strategically partnering and working with the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Womens Council to provide information to the newly elected NAN Leadership on womens issues/concerns and identifying processes for voicing womens issues and concerns. |
