| Purpose: |
This two year project will address the difficulties and barriers Aboriginal women encounter as they attempt to live free from violence. Drawing on leadership from the womens Aboriginal shelter movement in Saskatchewan, this project will train shelter workers in effective counselling and support to Aboriginal women who use shelter services, and pilot the services to Aboriginal women. In addition, connections will be made between the Aboriginal community and Aboriginal resources and Provincial Association of Transition Houses of Saskatchewan members across the province in order to strengthen the network of support available for Aboriginal women experiencing violence in Saskatchewan. |
