WHY NOMINATE SOMEONE?

Helpful hints

Candidates may have:
  • identified and found innovative solutions to particular challenges facing women
  • served as role model and/or mentor; and
  • initiated valuable public awareness and education activities.
Other details:
  • the jury is a duly appointed independent body.
  • nominations are confidential, please respect this policy.

The recipient will:

  • be personally invited to Rideau Hall for the award ceremony to receive a medal from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada;
  • be asked to deliver remarks at various events;
  • be featured in various government and news media;
  • bring awareness and attention to the causes they are championing; and
  • gain a new prestigious award mention on a résumé.

YOUR GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL NOMINATION

The nominee must:

  • be a Canadian citizen;
  • be between the ages of 15 and 30 years;
  • have contributed to the goal of equality for girls and women in Canada; and
  • have demonstrated leadership and excellence in any field, in either a paid
    or unpaid capacity.

The nominator must:

  • fill out the nomination form;
  • include an outline of the candidate's achievements with respect to advancing
    equality for girls and women in Canadian society;
  • include two to four letters of support stating specific reasons for the candidate's
    nomination;
  • include a résumé covering the candidate's career, volunteer work, awards and/or
    other notable achievements; and
  • mail or fax the nomination package.
