Acknowledging Support from Status of Women Canada

2. How to Acknowledge Status of Women Canada's Support

Organizations receiving support from Status of Women Canada must acknowledge this support by way of a credit line accompanied by SWC's bilingual signature and the Canada wordmark.

2.1. Credit Lines and Signatures

To acknowledge support from Status of Women Canada, organizations must use the credit line which best corresponds to their situation. Was support provided in financial form or in another form? Are there contributors other than Status of Women Canada?

Suggested Credit Lines:

To acknowledge financial vs other forms of support:

• This project has been funded [or: supported] through Status of Women Canada's Women's Program.

Variations:

• This project has been funded [or: supported] by Status of Women Canada.
• This project has been funded [or: supported] in part by Status of Women Canada.
• [Name of organization] acknowledges the financial support [or: the support] of Status of Women Canada.

Example: The Go-Getters acknowledges the support of Status of Women Canada.

The credit line must be accompanied by Status of Women Canada's signature (the Canadian flag followed by SWC's bilingual title) and by the Canada wordmark.

If the document is mainly in French, the order of the titles in the signature is reversed:

If more than one federal department or agency have provided support, the "Government of Canada" signature and the Canada wordmark must be used.

When Status of Women Canada is the only federal contributor and there is insufficient space for a credit line, the document must at least bear SWC's signature and the Canada wordmark.

The Canada wordmark can be used as the sole identifier of federal support as long as the credit line makes reference to Status of Women Canada or to the Government of Canada.

Note: Government of Canada signatures may not be altered in any way, must be given equal prominence to those of similar contributors, and must appear as distinct elements in a reasonable amount of white space. Their use and placement must not convey the impression of government ownership. The inclusion of Government of Canada signatures and the Canada wordmark does not constitute an official endorsement of a project, an organization, its stances or its policies.

Order of the Official Languages in Signatures

The titles of federal institutions must appear in both official languages in a side-by-side format in all signatures. The English or French title appears on the left in accordance with the principal language of the product. In a mainly French product, such as a press release, the French title should appear on the left, followed by the English title on the right. In a mainly English product, the order is reversed.

2.2. Ministerial Messages

Organizations sometimes present or take part in public events for which a program is published and in which free space is reserved for a message from the Minister for Status of Women. To arrange for Status of Women Canada to prepare such a message, please contact your SWC representative or the office of the Minister at least 30 days in advance.
