The objective of the Women's Program is to achieve the full participation of women in the economic, social and democratic life of Canada. Funding is provided to eligible organizations in support of projects at the local, regional and national levels that address the following three priority areas:
Funding is available for time-specific projects of 36 months or less that address barriers to women's participation and equality in Canadian society. Eligible organizations and activities are determined by the Women's Program's terms and conditions. Funding is not provided for ongoing activities, such as an organization's operation and administration.
Status of Women Canada accepts and reviews applications to the Women's Program on an ongoing basis.
The Women's Program may also issue targeted calls for proposals on specific themes with application deadlines.
Organizations interested in applying for funding from the Women's Program are strongly encouraged to read the Information Guide. The guide offers detailed instructions on how to prepare a funding application and provides information on the Women's Program's priority issues, eligibility requirements and assessment factors, as well as sample application documents.
Organizations wishing to apply for funding are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate Status of Women Canada office to discuss their proposed project prior to submitting a funding application.
All required documents must be submitted at the time of application. Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding. A document checklist is included with the application form.
Unless otherwise indicated in a targeted call, your application and all supporting documents must be submitted to the appropriate Status of Women Canada office. Electronic copies in Microsoft Word of your application form, detailed project proposal, results framework and performance measurement plan, work plan table and completed budget forms must be sent by e-mail, followed by a copy with original signatures sent by regular mail.
Your application will be processed, verified for eligibility and assessed against standard funding criteria. All funding decisions are made by the Minister for Status of Women. Applicants will be informed in writing of the decision regarding their proposal.
Status of Women Canada wishes to highlight the importance of applicants securing other funding partners, as this can be a key factor in ensuring your project's success and sustainability.
