Minister Ambrose Joins Equal Voice in "Celebrating 25 Percent Women in the House" Event

June 15, 2011

Ottawa, ON - Today the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, will join other Members of Parliament, Senators as well as members and supporters of Equal Voice to celebrate the milestone of achieving 25 percent women in the House of Commons.

"Our recent election made it clear that women have much to contribute in the political realm, including unique perspectives on the issues that affect Canadian women and girls, men and boys," said Minister Ambrose. "I look forward to collaborating with my 75 women colleagues from across the political spectrum to bring the true voices of women into the political arena in the years ahead."

Equal Voice, with chapters in numerous cities across Canada, is a multi-partisan organization dedicated to promoting the election of more women to all levels of government in Canada.  In recent years, Equal Voice has received funding through the Women's Program of Status of Women Canada, including for a project to engage girls and young women in the political process.
