October 8, 2010
Mr. Speaker, October is Women's History Month in Canada. This is a month that is celebrated across Canada and by all Canadians. The Minister for the Status of Women announced that this year's theme is "Recognizing Canadian Women in Business".
The economy is at the forefront of all Canadian minds, and this theme celebrates women's contributions, now and throughout history, to Canadian business and to our national economy.
Our Government has taken significant action to improve women's economic security and prosperity, including the introduction of important programs that benefit women in business. We have created new initiatives like the Kickstart Program that will help give entrepreneurs the opportunity to grow their ideas and their businesses.
I would ask all members of this House to join me this month, in celebrating the important contribution women have and continue to make to our economy and to our country as a whole.
