Research

Research and information gathering encompasses a wide array of activities. These can range from a formalized position as a research analyst to a policy or a program analyst who occasionally review data and information for a particular project.

Some questions to consider while gathering information are:

Question 1

What kinds of disaggregated quantitative data would be important for you to understand the different ways that diverse groups of men and women might experience this issue?

What kinds of information and data are available?

Question 2

How well does the available data correspond to the diverse groups of men and women who may be affected by a policy, program or initiative?

Where are the information gaps? How can these gaps be filled?

Question 3

How can different quantitative and qualitative data be used to provide a more complete picture of the situation?

Have all relevant stakeholders' perspectives been included?
