Purpose: Circling Women from the Four Directions: Strengthening the Heartbeat of Our Nations (Circling the Women) is a multi-phase project involving a number of funding sources. Through Status of Women funding, At^Lohsa will focus on the development and training of an Advisory Committee made up of Aboriginal community members, creating the culturally relevant consultation mechanism to ensure adequate and comprehensive data collection, and building strategic networks and partnerships to lay the ground work for the comprehensive community consultations. The process will also train, educate, build capacity, and empower youth and women to become leaders in their communities to inform and engage women of the importance and need for their participation in the consultation process. This initiative is ultimately focused on laying the groundwork for phase two and three.
