Purpose: This project will address the economic security of diverse senior women living in rural Nova Scotia who often lack the knowledge and information that is necessary in order to access the benefits within the Canadian pension system to which they are entitled. Train the trainer workshops will equip seniors in 5 regions of Nova Scotia to subsequently provide workshops to between 250 and 350 diverse senior women concerning the present pension system resulting in participants gaining a clear understanding of the present Canadian pension system, their entitlements, application processes and available supports. The resources developed through this project will be made available through the eight Women’s Centres in Nova Scotia and other organizations to ensure that awareness and knowledge is increased among senior women on an ongoing basis.
