Purpose: This three-year project addresses the conditions that force Aboriginal women into homelessness. The project will reduce personal and service barriers in the “revolving door syndrome” and “dependency syndrome” for 50 Aboriginal women who have used a shelter (residential school survivors, single mothers, women with addictions, women who have been in prison, etc.). A working group will follow up and collaborate with service providers, women in need, and community groups to decrease the long-term effects of violence against Aboriginal women in Prince Edward Island. The project will provide four workshops, talking circles, training and education.
Comments: Multi-year project of 3 years (2007-2009).
