Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Au bas de l’échelle inc.
Location: Montreal, Quebec
Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $35,744.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: Recognized for its expertise in this field, the Au bas de l’échelle group is seeking to develop a new training session on labour standards, particularly relating to psychological harassment. The training will take into account the cultural, linguistic and social characteristics of the Haitian community in Montréal. Some 15 Haitian women will be involved in developing the session (group discussion, then the development, design and translation into Creole of the educational materials). Au bas de l’échelle will deliver the training using specific tools in Creole that are adapted to the Haitian women’s level of education, the jobs they hold and their interactions with government institutions. We believe that this knowledge will have a positive impact on their family and community.
