Purpose: The “Come In, You are Welcome Here” project focuses on issues that arise from the sex trade and community reaction to it in the North End of Winnipeg. This innovative 3 year project will build on previous work carried out by Sage House. The group will work to: increase safety and provide harm reduction tools to highly marginalized women in the sex trade; offer life/employment skills and increase exit strategy opportunities for these women; and, increase employability skills for community women who serve as parent monitors who work to provide safety for school children on the streets in the North End of Winnipeg. The project will involve both women in the sex trade and women from the community in its activities, as well as other community partners.
Comments: Multi-year project of 3 years (2008-2010).
