Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $126,050.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This pilot project aims to provide direct job placement and ongoing job retention support to 100 Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women throughout central and northern Alberta. Activities will include establishing relationships for job placement with industrial trades and occupations’ employers in central and northern Alberta; placing low-income Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women in the industrial construction trades and occupations; and providing ongoing support to employers in retaining Women Building Futures (WBF) graduates. This project presents a unique opportunity to test a mobile service delivery strategy. As women living in poverty are able to secure and sustain employment in the high-paying industrial construction sector, they will move towards economic security and economic prosperity.
