Location: Calgary, Alberta
Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $90,103.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The Integrated Women’s Mentorship Program aims to provide mentorship support to newcomer immigrant and refugee women to facilitate their integration into the Calgary’s labour market. This will be accomplished by linking professional Calgary women/residents with newcomer women with similar professional backgrounds or occupational interests. Training will be provided for mentors, and bi-weekly workshops will be held for mentors and mentees as well as other interested women on topics of interest to working women. The project will work to provide newcomer women with employment contacts, advice and guidance on Canadian workplace practices. This increased knowledge and support should assist them in finding suitable opportunities in the Calgary labour market, thereby increasing their economic security and prosperity.
