Purpose: This 18 month pilot project will provide information sessions and mentorship to 120 marginalized young mothers with high risk children. Topics such as personal development; goal setting; financial literacy; life skills; role modeling and communications skills will be part of the training. The participants will develop individual action/goal plans and will benefit from mentoring and coaching. The organization will provide regular opportunities for women to network, thus sharing mutual support, building their communication skills, and gaining self-confidence and self-esteem. The project activities will develop and empower them to better manage their self care and their families, ultimately decreasing the risk of further marginalization and increasing the safety and well-being of their community.
