Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Tamara’s House, Services for Sexual Abuse Survivors Inc.
Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Date: 2009-01-13
Value: $29,678.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The project will pilot an inter-agency mentoring program (model) for the provision of trained facilitators in the area of child sexual abuse. Three facilitators with expertise in responding to the specific needs of these women will be trained to facilitate support groups. This project will provide three cycles of ten-week support groups for women who were sexually abused in childhood. Each cycle will consist of a first stage group for women beginning the healing process and a second stage, an ongoing group for those women who wish to continue the group healing process. Through access to support groups, women will acquire the knowledge and develop skills needed to more effectively address social and economic barriers to their participation within their communities.
