Purpose: The Rainbow Project is a pilot asset development program for women, aged 45 to 65, who live in a transitional housing complex for women who have been abused, and who do not have stable housing. The project will include individual sessions with a counsellor and financial advisor to help the women set up individual budgets and plans. The women will also participate in group sessions over the term of the project on various topics related to financial literacy including: budgeting, credit, and banking. The project will help participants develop assets through financial literacy and budgeting support. The participants will develop goals for their potential savings and will begin building a savings account.
