Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Women's Place Kenora
Location: Kenora, Ontario
Date: 2009-03-19
Value: $64,322.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This project will promote the safety of girls and young women in Kenora and neighbouring First Nations communities by providing SafeTeen Train-the-Trainer seminars, holding workshops, and providing information to drop-in groups and low-income neighbourhoods. SafeTeen Train-the-Trainer is an intensive hands-on 5-day teaching seminar for youth workers and adults to develop the skills, understanding and experience required to conduct workshops, and to apply themes in their everyday work with youth. The workshops provide powerful gender-segregated anti-violence sessions which teach participants concrete skills for de-escalating dangerous situations, avoiding conflict, bullying and assault, and self-protection.
