Purpose: This 24-month project will encourage the Korean community living in the Toronto area to face violence against women, name it and take steps to address it. 60 young Korean-Canadian women aged 19 to 24 years will receive leadership training to act as mentors and role models in addressing the issue of violence against women. They will provide peer-led training to 300 girls aged 16 to19 years, working with them to identify barriers to full participation in Canadian society, including rejecting a culture of silence regarding violence and abuse of women. Peer mentors will also conduct outreach activities and engage the community in discussion through art, performance and educational activities.
