Date: 2010-03-15

Purpose: The project will develop programming for adult women who are victims of sexual assault to foster peer support and autonomy, as well as social mobilization. 125 women will benefit from the implementation and facilitation of three activity components: regular two and a half hour meetings for three support groups; weekly two and a half hour meetings for a peer group; and monthly meetings of a social action committee. The peer group will be co-facilitated by two survivors/facilitators who will be trained and guided throughout the project. The main objective is to foster autonomy and involvement by the participating women both personally and socially. They will develop individual skills that will enable them to take back their power by being proactive and more involved in their community. The planned results would see 35 of these women using their skills to engage in social actions for the betterment of their family, social and professional environment.
