Purpose: The project, Immigrant Women Claiming their Future, addresses barriers that immigrant and refugee women face through the application of the Sustainable Livelihood Model adapted to the immigrant population. The areas to be addressed include: family relationships, support networks, asset mapping and leadership development. This will be accomplished through home visitations, group discussions, workshops and meetings. At the same time, the project will focus on the five components of the Sustainable Livelihood Model: the human, social, natural, physical and financial areas of life. Participants will gain insight into how they can effect positive change in their lives and those of their families and their communities. The outcomes will be shared with other organizations working with immigrant and refugee women.
