Purpose: This 24-month pilot project will offer support and training to 400 women in Westlock, Alberta, who have been victims of abuse or been impacted by violence in their lives. The goal of this project is to support these women to engage in healthy life choices for themselves and their families through innovative and responsive programming. The organization will inform, educate, support, advocate, heighten public awareness and empower the women to build their dignity, self-esteem and confidence to participate as equal members of society. Project participants will be women of all ages and diverse backgrounds, including those who are socio economically disadvantaged and/or geographically isolated. All will receive the support and training needed to enhance their independence, safety, security, self-esteem and quality of life.
