Purpose: This 15-month project will build on a previous phase of Pass It On: Safety for Girls and Young Women. The organization will offer a supervised mentoring program to girls at risk in the rural and geographically isolated British Columbia communities of Valemount / McBride, Prince George, Kamloops, Cowichan, Ucluelet and Southern Gulf Island. They will foster leadership among young women through training to act as mentors for younger girls and co-facilitators of violence prevention workshops. The organization will encourage women and girls to become project advisors, which will require them to use their leadership skills. The organization will also strive to build community partnerships to prevent violence against girls and young women.
