Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Date: 2010-11-17
Value: $300,000.00
Type: Contribution
Purpose: The goal of this 36-month project is to strengthen community action on underlying conditions that impact the lives of women, their families and communities. By working to enhance the leadership skills of 265 women in Atlantic Canada who are recognized as, or are emerging community leaders, the project will support them in identifying and acting to mobilize community assets and develop strategies to overcome barriers to local engagement. Through a series of 13 workshops, participants will be prepared to lead different strategic approaches tailored to the needs of different communities (e.g. Aboriginal, Francophone, Anglophone, rural, urban, etc.) to overcome under-representation of women in decision making fora. This project will generate a model for community leadership development.
