Purpose: This 24-month project will develop/adapt innovative programs and other supports to increase growth opportunities for women owners of small and medium-sized businesses, including immigrant and Aboriginal women. A gender-based analysis of programming and planning will assist participants in their efforts to ensure that business development programs and other supports respond to the specific needs of women entrepreneurs, including those from immigrant and Aboriginal communities. This project will explore practical ways to address and overcome these and other barriers to success for women business owners. This project will work to identify the barriers to accessing supports and financial resources to support the growth and expansion for women who own businesses. The target population will be Aboriginal women business owners and the project will take place in Courtenay/Comox Valley Regional District.
