Purpose: Two important issues will be addressed through this project. First, young girls' leadership development, youth engagement in civic and political life, and engagement of young girls to develop their political literacy, and sow the seeds for future political leaders. Secondly, the project will address the needs of young women, specifically university undergraduates, helping them to further advance their understanding of civic and political life, and allowing them to gain access into the political arena and provide them with the tools to be future political leaders. For the purpose of this project, youth are identified as between the ages of 12 and 18 and young women are identified as university undergraduate students, ages 18-25. AMENDMENT: The organization will undertake additional activities to increase its outreach to Aboriginal young women and to further develop participant’s skills to ensure they are better equipped to become more politically engaged in a formal capacity in their communities.
