|Purpose: ||The project is designed to increase and sustain the participation of diverse women in the trades and technology labour force in Nova Scotia. This 36 month initiative will create a work environment designed to address the economic and social situation of women and their participation in democratic life through their full participation in trades and technology training programs and workplaces in Nova Scotia. The project will maximize the potential for these women to enter the trades and technology labour force and strengthen the recruitment and retention of women to these fields. A solid mentorship network is also included in the project. In addition, recruitment and retention strategies will be applied, which are designed to engage employers in the creation of safe and respectful workplaces for women, in an effort to create systemic change in the workplace.
AMENDMENT: The organization will undertake additional activities related to the project including a model evaluation and creation of an exportability tool box and expansion with an industry partner (Michelin plant in Bridgewater, NS).
