Purpose: This 24 month project will allow Aboriginal girls and young women between the ages of 14 and 25 in North End Winnipeg to identify the issues affecting their participation in civic, political and community life. In partnership with stakeholders, participants will implement solutions and strategies for addressing women’s underrepresentation in leadership roles. Girls and young women will participate in activities to increase their leadership skills, and further enhance their knowledge and capacities by shadowing local women leaders for a day. Meetings and presentations will be held with different levels of government, community members and partners regarding the barriers and strategies identified during the project.
