Purpose: This 36-month project will focus on increasing the recruitment, retention and advancement of women employed in mid-level positions in small, medium and large enterprises within the technology sector in the province of Nova Scotia. The organization and partner companies will identify role models of women in senior management positions in the sector, and create an inventory of management practices which are supportive of women’s leadership advancement. Human resources practices will be addressed by delivering gender-based business supports which will address succession planning, workshops, and coaching and training for managers. This project is part of the Women in Technology Projects initiative. The Women in Technology Projects aim to provide women the opportunity to contribute to, and advance in, the Canadian Digital Economy, where they remain under-represented. The projects will: address human resources practices, structures and measures in small, medium-sized and large enterprises; and, ensure that women have the necessary skills to become active participants in Canada’s current and emerging technology sectors. These projects will work in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC). The ICTC will develop a common evaluation framework for all funded projects, produce a document outlining the overall results and best/promising practices; and disseminate key evaluation findings for the funded projects.
