Purpose: This 24-month project will address the institutional barriers and other factors that limit local efforts to advance the economic security and prosperity of First Nations women and girls living in Nishnawbe Aski Nation. The project will analyze the economic opportunities currently available and review existing economic development plans, policies, programs and services in the community to assess and address potential gaps that create or sustain inequalities for women. Strategies developed or adapted to address the barriers facing women will be community-driven and include the lived experiences of First Nations women, ensuring cultural relevance.
