Purpose: This 24-month project aims to increase economic opportunities for Inuit women entrepreneurs living in the Nunatsiavut region in Newfoundland and Labrador. Women and community stakeholders will examine entrepreneurship models used in similar communities, and adapt and implement strategies to diversify and strengthen economic and business opportunities for Inuit women entrepreneurs. These strategies will be based upon best practices to allow women to grow their businesses while addressing the specific needs of doing business in a remote, northern location. Through the project, consultations will take place to examine existing policies and processes to determine their effectiveness, and improvements will be made to regulations and programs as required to create a sustainable environment for Inuit women entrepreneurs.
