Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Safe City Mississauga
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Date: 2016-05-25
Value: $75,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This is a supplement to the following 24-month project who worked with girls and community agencies and stakeholders to address the issue of cyberviolence against women and girls in Mississauga and the Peel Region in Ontario. A community-based advisory group carried out a needs assessment to increase knowledge and to support the development of a local strategy to address the issue. The projects also developed and strengthen peer networks of girls to act as "ambassadors" to schools and youth groups in the community to encourage their participation in the project. Supplement: Supplemental funding will support the formalization of the structure of the ‘ambassadors’ network with representation from more schools and service providers in the Mississauga area. It will also support the project in strengthening its relationship with school boards, service providers and community stakeholders in the development of a multi-stakeholder response for the region. To support sustainability, an online toolkit will be developed to provide resources and guidance for teachers and other organizations addressing cyberviolence.
