Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Date: 2017-03-06
Value: $399,500.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This 36-month project will seek to improve tracking and reporting of sexual assaults by authorities in Ontario. Working with key stakeholders from women’s sexual assault centers, shelter networks, and police services, the organization will design an accountability model based on the “Philadelphia Model”. This model has decreased the number of misclassified sexual assault cases in the United States. The project’s model will be piloted in various Ontario communities to strengthen the ability of police to support the effective prosecution of perpetrators. Once the pilots are completed, the organization will produce a report with lessons learned, and create a toolkit to support the implementation of the model by violence against women organizations and police associations across Ontario.
