Tips for Youth

Being a teen today isn't easy. You have to deal with homework, chores, curfews and dating. There's pressure to fit in at school, get good marks and plan for your future. One pressure you should never have to deal with is abuse or violence. It’s wrong and many forms of abuse are crimes.

No one has the right to cause another person physical or emotional pain. Yet abuse does happen - in families, in dating relationships, among friends and between strangers. Very often it happens to young women and girls at the hands of someone they know. Understanding the kinds of abuse and violence faced by youth is an important step in protecting yourself and those you care about.
