Louise Champoux-Paillé, Recipient, 2014, Governor General Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case
It is with much gratitude that I accept this award.
I would like to thank all those who have supported me in my
commitment, in particular my husband and three people who
are no longer with us and who constantly encouraged me
to go further: my parents and my daughter Gabrielle.
Very early on, I wanted to ensure that women had
a place in areas where we were under-represented,
and very early on, I recognized our added value,
by the complementarity of our vision,
which focuses more on the long term rather than the short term,
listening to different views, developing consensus,
group performance rather than individual performance and
greater balance between the various aspects of our personal,
family and professional lives.
This complementarity of vision, which is still vastly
under-represented within the leadership of our organizations,
must be developed by increasing the number of women in strategic
positions, but especially through profound change to the
DNA of our organizations to give more women access
to management positions.
So, for this reason, both women as well as men are
addressed by this goal as it is one of society.
