Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: DIMENSION TRAVAIL
Location: Laval, Quebec
Date: 2006-09-22
Value: $70,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The purpose of this group's project is to mobilize the main social and economic stakeholders in labour force development in the Laval region and, together, to address the difficulties encountered by women entering the labour force there. By means of this project, the group wishes to achieve two objectives that will improve women's economic situation: (1) to identify and understand the role played by the main stakeholders and the impacts of their role on women's entry into the labour force; (2) to ensure that the main stakeholders take action to increase the number of women and young women employed and receiving training in traditionally male-dominated occupations and forward-looking occupations, by giving them the tools they need to obtain access to these options. A co-operative round table discussion group, bringing together the main stakeholders, will be set up and will make possible long-term work with various partners in order to influence the policies and programs of major organizations in the region. Initiatives resulting from this co-operative group will offer women a diversified range of occupational choices, thus improving their access to the labour force.
