Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: FEMINISTS FOR JUST AND EQUITABLE PUBLIC POLICY ASSOCIATION (FEMJEPP)
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Date: 2007-10-12
Value: $91,061.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: Over 16 months, 300 urban and rural women of diverse backgrounds will work with the Employment Supports and Income Assistance Division of the provincial Department of Community Services to increase single mothers’ access to education and training. This includes the development of a monitoring and evaluation process for the Career Seek Pilot Project that would help 200 single-mother social assistance recipients to attend a four-year university program. The process and findings will be made accessible to other groups as a model of a new, collaborative approach to improving access to post-secondary education. This project will improve income-assistance recipients’ ability to obtain full time employment at a wage that can support their families.
