Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: ASSOCIATION YWCA DE QUÉBEC
Location: Quebec, Quebec
Date: 2007-10-12
Value: $20,538.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: Using early intervention and prevention as effective ways to prevent violence, the Quebec City YWCA will implement a program called Centre filles (“Girls’ Centre”). It will offer services adapted to the needs of girls aged 9 to 17. This pilot project involving 196 girls will test the hypothesis that girls who have developed self-confidence and trust in their ability to express their needs will not engage in violent relationships once they are adults. The project will identify the needs of girls by age group, assess methods to be used, and test the adolescents’ interest in this type of service.
