Purpose: The project, entitled “Women, Gender and Immigration: Make Immigrant Women Aware and Assist In Accessing Available Support Services” aims at increasing the awareness of immigrant women so that they are able to access the services and programs they need to become full and active participants in Canadian society. The project includes five community education workshops and sessions on: family law and legal aid; violence prevention laws; services and programs; childcare; poverty reduction; as well as health and wellness. An additional workshop will be provided to service providers in an effort to educate and increase their awareness about cultural differences and enable them to provide culturally-appropriate services that meet immigrant needs.
