Purpose: The Aboriginal Women for Tomorrow (AWFT) Program is a series of workshops designed to build leadership and business skills, and to foster greater participation of women in the community and in the economy. The AWFT prepares First Nation and Métis women through on-site skills training that is tailored to the needs of participants in an effort to promote self-determination and self-sufficiency. A total of 28 workshops a year for three years will be offered across Canada (with the exception of Nunavut) and will focus on assertiveness training, effective communications, financial literacy, business development, and the management of business relationships. The training will also connect women who are starting a business with a volunteer mentor provided by CESO.
