Purpose: This is a 24-month collaborative project is designed to assess and address issues of violence experienced by women and girls living in under-serviced communities in rural Northeastern Nova Scotia. Through community education and the improvement of services, specific attention will be given to issues of violence facing senior women, women and girls coming from Aboriginal and African Nova Scotian communities. Women and girls from the identified communities will be integral to the project from conception to completion and will be involved in all its phases. The project will be carried out through the collaboration of three women's centres, each situated in distinct communities and responsible for identifying and developing a response to a particular form of violence as well as sharing their learning with communities across Northeastern Nova Scotia.
