Purpose: This 15-month Tri-County Area (Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby) project will assist rural women and girls dealing with harm, as a result of sexual violence, to develop appropriate and culturally-sensitive responses to a community framework on sexual violence. The women’s centre will work with women and girls, along with community and government service providers, to address the coordination of services for female victims of sexual violence to ensure the response to victims and their families is coordinated, appropriate and adequate. More specifically, the project will address the service challenges and develop a response framework that will identify the services that are available in the community to reduce harm to women and girls, and, the exact prevention programs required to help them live free of sexual violence.
