Recipient Name: Fédération des agricultrices du Québec
Location: Longueuil,(Quebec)
Date: 2008-03-03
Value: $74,002.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The purpose of this significant project by the Fédération des agricultrices du Québec (FAQ) is to improve the living conditions of women farm operators. These women, who face major challenges, continue to struggle to gain recognition as professionals in their own right. The organization will first develop a socio economic profile of current women farm operators, by conducting a survey with 3,000 of them. Second, based on the survey results, the FAQ will train 200 women farm operators, who will become leaders and agents of change in their communities. In turn, these 200 will reach 700 others. Ultimately, the project will benefit all women farm operators, who will become more capable in terms of participating in their communities and meeting the many challenges of the agriculture industry.
