|Purpose: ||This project will build on the work of Saskatchewan Voice of People with Disabilities in raising awareness of the high instance of abuse suffered by women with disabilities. This project will create materials that are culturally-appropriate and educate First Nations/Metis and young women with disabilities about abuse. An intervention model will be designed and piloted to address the needs of women with disabilities who have been abused. Best practices will be shared by the project participants in their communities and by the Saskatchewan Voice of Persons with Disabilities at various meetings in Saskatchewan. To further reach out to women with disabilities and key stakeholders, as well as follow-up on earlier project activities, Saskatchewan Voice of Persons with Disabilities will host a conference on abuse in 2010.
