Purpose: Project HOPE is a multi-pronged pilot project, guided by a Peer Advisory Council and designed around trained peer support, to increase exit options and healthy choices for women involved in sexual exploitation. This innovative strategy aims to provide outreach support to women involved in prostitution by using various approaches meant to create a point of entry for women needing health, social and legal supports and ultimately, those wishing to exit the sex trade. The outreach strategy includes the provision of on-site peer support at ten different locations throughout the city, as well as the establishment of an anonymous support line and the development of a web support forum geared particularly to indoor venue sex workers. The project will also include a training component for professionals who deal with sexually exploited women.
Comments: Multi-year project of 3 years (2008-2010).
