Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Association des aides familiales du Québec
Location: Montreal, Quebec
Date: 2009-01-13
Value: $159,700.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: The project aims to strengthen the skills of home care workers to encourage their full participation, as well as their civic, social and occupational integration into Quebec society. The Association des aides familiales du Québec (AAFQ) considers it essential to professionalize this work by informing home care workers about the options available to them for improving their skills and by encouraging networking with local resources. The AAFQ will develop teaching tools such as theme-specific backgrounders, glossaries, fact sheets and will design and facilitate workshops on the skills expected of home care workers in a North-American context, as well as on occupations that are related to theirs. This process of professionalization will help meet the needs of 120 home care workers living in very precarious social and economic situations, by having their social and professional experience recognized.
Comments: Multi-year project of 36 months.
