Purpose: This 36-month project will address the obstacles that prevent single mothers from participating in activities that would improve their economic and social conditions.The project’s goal is to contribute to increasing economic and family capacities (with a focus on financial literacy) and social connections of low-income female lone parent families who live in Vancouver’s east side. Participants will have mentors to assist with practical skills coaching, family life enrichment, and connecting with the community. The participants will also choose capacity-building workshops in areas such as financial literacy, home management, parenting, enhancement, and connection to community resources.
