|Purpose: ||This 18-month project will provide 30 unemployed new Canadian and immigrant women and girls in the Cornwall area with the tools to improve their economic security. Participants will attend workshops designed to link them with community support services, mentors and the knowledge to begin achieving their employment goals. The project will address the barriers preventing immigrant women from attaining employment, including social isolation and lack of supports in their community. Workshops will focus on financial literacy, workplace terminology, job searching, business start-up, and technical and interpersonal skills. They will also provide support to women seeking jobs in an environment that takes into account their specific needs.
